Plea Bargain Reached

October 28th, 2009 · No Comments

Heidi Anfinson entered into a plea Oct. 28.  She waives her right to a third trial which was scheduled to start next week.

Her original conviction carried a 50 year mandatory sentence. Under the plea, her maximum sentence is 50 years non-mandatory. With time already served, she could be paroled in 1-4 years. (Details are not final. Sentencing is next week.)

The plea was a difficult decision for Heidi, but she felt she had to avoid the chance of losing at trial and being put again under a 50 years mandatory sentence.

The unfortunate result of the plea is that Heidi’s post-partum defense will never get presented at trial for full deliberation. Some details were presented during the appeal process.
